Ingredients

Apple Wedges
  • 3 large apples Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji, cored and sliced into wedges
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter melted, or neutral oil
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar packed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
Caramel Whipped Cream Dipping Sauce
  • 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream chilled
  • 2 tbsp caramel sauce thick
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon for garnish

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Apple corer and knife

Method

  1. Wash, core, and slice the apples into even wedges. Pat them completely dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Add the apple wedges to the bowl and toss thoroughly until every slice is evenly coated in the sugar-spice mixture.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the coated apple wedges in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd.
  6. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, pausing halfway through to shake the basket or carefully flip the wedges with tongs.
  7. While the apples cook, prepare the dip. In a chilled bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  8. Add the caramel sauce and vanilla extract to the cream. Beat until stiff peaks form. Transfer to a small serving bowl and garnish with a pinch of cinnamon.
  9. Remove the hot, caramelized apples from the air fryer, serve immediately alongside the cold caramel whipped cream dip.

Notes

If making in batches, keep finished apples warm in a 170°F oven. Do not peel the apples if you want them to hold their shape perfectly.
