Method
- Wash, core, and slice the apples into even wedges. Pat them completely dry with a paper towel.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Add the apple wedges to the bowl and toss thoroughly until every slice is evenly coated in the sugar-spice mixture.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
- Place the coated apple wedges in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, pausing halfway through to shake the basket or carefully flip the wedges with tongs.
- While the apples cook, prepare the dip. In a chilled bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- Add the caramel sauce and vanilla extract to the cream. Beat until stiff peaks form. Transfer to a small serving bowl and garnish with a pinch of cinnamon.
- Remove the hot, caramelized apples from the air fryer, serve immediately alongside the cold caramel whipped cream dip.
Notes
If making in batches, keep finished apples warm in a 170°F oven. Do not peel the apples if you want them to hold their shape perfectly.
