Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain fat. Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Divide pizza dough into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a disc.
- Place a spoonful of beef mixture and some cheese in the center of each disc. Pull edges up and pinch tightly to seal into a ball.
- Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Carefully add baking soda (it will fizz).
- Boil dough balls in batches for 30 seconds each. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on baking sheet.
- Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until deep golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter immediately after removing from oven. Serve warm.
Notes
Ensure the dough is sealed very tightly so the cheese does not leak out during boiling.
