Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef lean (85/15)
  • 2 cups white rice cooked
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup 10.75 oz
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup onion finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • 9x9 Baking Dish
  • Spatula
  • Cheese Grater

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking dish lightly with cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess grease.
  3. Reduce heat to low. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir to combine. Mix in half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Ensure rice is cooked before adding to the mixture. Day-old rice works great for texture.
