Ingredients

Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup cooked bacon bits crispy
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp onion powder
Breading & Assembly
  • 1 bag Nacho Cheese Doritos 9.75 oz
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Food Processor
  • Heavy skillet
  • Wire cooling rack

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, bacon bits, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
  2. Form small teaspoon-sized triangles of the mixture and freeze on a parchment-lined tray for 20 minutes.
  3. Crush half the bag of Doritos into fine crumbs using a food processor or bag.
  4. Place a frozen cheese triangle between two whole Doritos to create a sandwich.
  5. Dredge the sandwich in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly in the crushed Dorito crumbs.
  6. Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry the stuffed chips for 60-90 seconds per side until golden and crispy.
  8. Drain on a wire rack for 2 minutes before serving while warm.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the chips from becoming greasy. Do not skip the freezing step for the filling.
