Ingredients

Breakfast Plate
  • 2 thick slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tbsp butter softened
  • 1 tbsp honey high quality
  • 0.5 tsp coarse sea salt flakes like Maldon
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese softened
  • 1 tbsp blueberry jam or preserve
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese freshly grated

Equipment

  • Toaster or baking sheet
  • Non-stick pan
  • Cheese grater (microplane preferred)
  • Sturdy serving plate

Method

  1. Start by preparing the toast. Lay the bread on a baking sheet or in a toaster. Cook until golden brown and crispy. Remove from heat and place onto a sturdy serving plate.
  2. Prepare Toast 1 (Honey & Sea Salt): Take one hot slice of toast and spread it generously with softened butter. Drizzle the entire surface with a luxurious ribbon of high-quality honey. Immediately sprinkle with coarse sea salt flakes, ensuring an even distribution that is visible.
  3. Prepare Toast 2 (Cream Cheese & Jam): Take the second slice of hot toast and spread it with a thick layer of softened cream cheese. Top with a lavish amount of blueberry jam. Cut diagonally and arrangement it next to the first slice.
  4. Prepare the Parmesan Fried Egg: Heat a small non-stick pan over medium-low heat and lightly oil it with cooking spray or a dash of olive oil. Carefully crack the egg into the pan.
  5. Add the Parmesan Blanket: Just as the egg white begins to set (about 1 minute), lower the heat to low. Grate the Parmesan cheese directly and *completely* over the egg, covering the entire white and the yolk. You want to hide the egg under a thick blanket. Cook until the whites are fully set and the yolk is cooked to your preference (jammy is best).
  6. Plate and Serve: Slide the entire Parmesan fried egg onto the plate next to the toast trio. Serve immediately, while all components are hot and glistening.

Notes

Always use real butter and quality honey for the sweet toast. Coarse sea salt flakes are non-negotiable for texture. When creating the Parmesan egg, aim for complete coverage while the cheese melts into a crust. A thick-cut sourdough acts as the perfect sturdy vehicle.
