Method
- Pour the colored sanding sugar onto a small plate. Run a wedge of fresh orange along the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into the sugar to coat it evenly.
- Fill the prepared sugar-rimmed glass to the top with ice.
- In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the coconut rum, pink lemonade, and pineapple juice.
- Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until chilled, then strain the mixture into your prepared glass.
- Slowly pour the grenadine syrup down the inside edge of the glass so it sinks to the bottom, creating a gradient effect.
- Top with a splash of lemon-lime soda if desired, garnish with a fresh orange slice, and serve immediately.
Notes
To make this a mocktail, simply replace the coconut rum with sparkling water or ginger ale.
