- Sauté sliced onions in 3 tbsp butter with sugar, salt, and pepper for 20 minutes until caramelized.
- Stir in thyme and half the garlic during the last minute of onion cooking.
- Slice the slab of slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom half in a baking dish.
- Layer roast beef, caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese slices over the bottom buns.
- Place the top buns on and brush with a mixture of melted butter and remaining garlic.
- Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 15 minutes, then uncovered for 5-10 minutes.
- Heat the French onion soup and au jus mix in a pan to serve as a dipping sauce.
Notes
Ensure the beef is thinly sliced for the best texture. Use high-quality Swiss cheese for better melting.
