Ingredients

Pineapples
  • 2 cans pineapple rings in 100% juice (reserve the juice)
Kool-Aid Liquid Bases (Per Color)
  • 1 packet unsweetened Kool-Aid drink mix 0.13oz per color (e.g. Cherry, Blue Raspberry, Lemon-Lime)
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar per color/container
  • 1.5 cups liquid mixture of water and reserved pineapple juice per container

Equipment

  • Airtight containers with lids
  • Measuring cups
  • Mixing Spoon

Method

  1. Drain the canned pineapple rings, reserving the juice in a large measuring cup.
  2. Set up separate airtight containers for each color of Kool-Aid you plan to make.
  3. In each container, add 1 packet of Kool-Aid powder and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar.
  4. Pour 1.5 cups of your water/pineapple juice mixture into each container and stir vigorously until the powder and sugar are completely dissolved.
  5. Carefully place the pineapple rings into the colored liquids, dividing them evenly among the containers. Ensure the fruit is fully submerged.
  6. Secure the lids tightly and place the containers in the refrigerator.
  7. Allow the pineapples to soak for a minimum of 24 hours (48 hours for best results) so the flavor and color fully penetrate the fruit.
  8. Remove from the liquid and serve whole, or cut into chunks and layer in clear cups for a rainbow effect.

Notes

Store the pineapples in their liquid in the fridge for up to two weeks. For an icy treat, remove them from the liquid after 24 hours and freeze them flat on a baking sheet.
