Method
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange tater tots on a baking sheet.
- Bake tots for 20-25 minutes until deep golden brown and extra crispy. Let cool slightly.
- While tots bake, season ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into small balls (about 1 inch).
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place beef balls in pan and smash flat with a spatula.
- Cook patties for 2 minutes, then flip. Top each with a small square of cheese.
- Cook for 1-2 more minutes until cheese is melted and beef is cooked through.
- To assemble: Place one tater tot down, top with onion, burger patty, pickle, and a second tater tot.
- Serve immediately while warm and crispy.
Notes
Make sure to cook the tots longer than the package directions so they are sturdy enough to hold the burger.
