Method
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, yeast, garlic powder, and fresh herbs. Stir in the parmesan cheese.
- Add the warm water and stir with a wooden spoon until a sticky, shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let sit at room temperature for at least 2 hours (or up to 18 hours for deeper flavor).
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Place your Dutch oven inside to heat up for at least 30 minutes.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface or parchment paper. Gently shape into a ball. Score the top with a sharp knife.
- Carefully place the dough (on parchment) into the hot Dutch oven. Cover with the lid.
- Bake covered for 30 minutes. Remove lid and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from pot and cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Ensure your yeast is fresh. If the dough doesn't bubble after rising, the yeast may be expired.
