Salted Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Bites

Ingredients
  

The Sandwich
  • 48 Square waffle pretzels (snaps) approx
  • 24 Soft caramel squares unwrapped (like Kraft)
The Dip
  • 1.5 cups Melting chocolate wafers or chips Milk or Dark
  • 1 tsp Coconut oil optional, for shine
  • 1 tbsp Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
  • 2 tbsp Holiday sprinkles optional

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Microwave-safe bowl

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange half of the pretzels (24) flat on the baking sheet.
  3. Top each pretzel with one unwrapped soft caramel square.
  4. Place in oven for 4-5 minutes, until caramel is soft and glossy but not fully melted.
  5. Remove from oven and immediately press a second pretzel onto each caramel to create a sandwich. Let cool completely until firm.
  6. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  7. Dip each pretzel sandwich halfway into the chocolate, shaking off excess.
  8. Place back on parchment paper and immediately sprinkle with sea salt or sprinkles while chocolate is wet.
  9. Allow chocolate to set at room temperature or in the fridge before serving.

Notes

If using store-bought caramels that are very hard, you may need an extra minute in the oven. Watch closely so they don't liquefy.
