Ingredients

Drink Base
  • 1 can Sprite or lemon-lime soda chilled
  • 2-3 tbsp strawberry syrup adjust to taste
  • 4-5 fresh strawberries chopped and sliced
  • 1 glass crushed or nugget ice
  • 1 wedge fresh lime optional, for juice

Equipment

  • Tall Glass
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Long stirring spoon
  • Cutting board and knife

Method

  1. Wash strawberries. Chop two for muddling, slice one for the glass, and keep one whole for garnish.
  2. Place the chopped strawberries into the bottom of a tall glass. If using lime, squeeze the wedge over the berries.
  3. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, gently crush the strawberries to release their juices.
  4. Pour the strawberry syrup directly over the muddled berries.
  5. Fill the glass to the top with crushed or nugget ice. Slide the thin strawberry slices down the inside of the glass.
  6. Slowly pour the chilled Sprite over the ice to preserve carbonation.
  7. Use a long spoon to gently stir from the bottom up, mixing the syrup and soda. Garnish with the whole strawberry and serve immediately.

Notes

For a true 'dirty soda' experience, add a splash of heavy cream or coconut creamer at the very end and let it swirl down into the drink.
