- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange Texas Toast on a baking sheet.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef, onion, and green pepper until beef is browned and veggies are soft (5-7 mins). Drain excess fat.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low for 5-10 minutes to thicken.
- While sauce simmers, bake Texas Toast for 5-6 minutes (should be golden but not fully crisp). Remove from oven.
- Spoon the meat mixture generously over each slice of toast.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Return to oven (or broil) for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
You can use provolone or cheddar cheese for a different flavor profile.
