Ultimate Cheesy Pizza Burgers

Ingredients
  

Burger Patties
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
Toppings & Assembly
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara thick style
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese or provolone
  • 16 slices pepperoni
  • 4 hamburger buns brioche or sesame
  • 2 tbsp butter softened, for toasting
  • 1 tsp garlic salt optional

Equipment

  • Cast iron skillet or Grill
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.
  2. Butter the cut sides of the buns and sprinkle with garlic salt. Toast in a skillet until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. Heat skillet or grill to medium-high. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on one side until seared.
  4. Flip the patties. Immediately top each with a spoonful of pizza sauce, 2 slices of cheese, and 4 slices of pepperoni.
  5. Cover the pan or grill and cook for 3-4 minutes until cheese is fully melted and pepperoni is hot.
  6. Place patties on toasted buns, sprinkle with parmesan if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

For a lower carb version, serve the patty on a bed of greens or in a lettuce wrap.
