Ingredients
  

Sandwich Base
  • 1 loaf rustic baguette or ciabatta
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze thick consistency
Fillings
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella sliced thick
  • 4 oz spicy salami or soppressata
  • 4 oz prosciutto thinly sliced
  • 1 cup baby arugula washed and dried
  • 1 pinch salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano optional

Method
 

  1. Slice the baguette in half lengthwise using a serrated bread knife.
  2. Drizzle the cut side of the bottom half with olive oil and the top half with balsamic glaze.
  3. Layer the prosciutto on the bottom half, folding the slices to create volume.
  4. Add the spicy salami slices on top of the prosciutto.
  5. Place the thick slices of fresh mozzarella over the meat. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and oregano.
  6. Top with a generous mound of fresh arugula.
  7. Close the sandwich with the top half of the bread and press down firmly to compress the layers.
  8. Slice in half diagonally and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use fresh mozzarella balls packed in water rather than the low-moisture blocks used for pizza.
