Ingredients
  

Cookie Bar Base
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup holiday M&Ms red and green
  • 0.5 cup white chocolate chips optional (or semi-sweet chunks)
  • 0.25 cup sprinkles festive colors

Equipment

  • 8x8 inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a medium bowl, stir melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add dry ingredients: Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  4. Fold in M&Ms, white chocolate chips, and sprinkles.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and set in the center.
  6. Cool & slice: Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.

Notes

Do not overbake. Bars will appear slightly soft in the center but will firm up as they cool.
